Born in the 90s

Born in the 90s

All Sundays are for daydreaming, right? This weekend we sat down with a freshly mixed Bellini in hand, listening to young Mariah Carey and imagining what it would be if BY FAR was founded in the 90s.

Suddenly all these beautiful images of 90s supermodels, actresses and musicians hanging out together came up in our minds. Some of the most iconic love stories of our time happened back then, not to mention the bloom of the pop culture. The World Wide Web has just been created, Instagram was hardly a fantasy, and every creative though was raw, authentic and beautiful. What’s not to love there.

As we draw most of our inspiration from this particular time period, we often imagine what it would be if we could witness this greatness first hand and this is how our dreams look like.

Our Bellini fuelled time machine takes is straight to 1990 when it-girls wore short hair, all black outfits and Amber bags. Wish we were in this picture too.

A year later, black is still in the picture and so is By Far. The girl of the moment Brooke Shields wearing the Mini bag, which was a popular choice among young celebrities who wanted to add a touch of femininity to the model-off-duty uniform of denim, tees and leather jackets.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford attending a party with husband Richard Gere. Cindy was spotted wearing the Rachel bag made from snake print leather. So young and pretty, she still didn’t know that one day she was going to pass the bag and this effortless style to her future daughter.

"By Far" fitted so well in Carolyn Kennedy's wardrobe defined by clean lines and neutral colour palettes. Famous for combining classic and trendy in an absolutely special way, Carolyn could even wear a bandana sophisticatedly by matching it with the right accessories such as the Charlotte bag.

Although Cynthia Nixon's character was never considered the fashionista of Sex and the City, we've always found her style very sophisticated, chic and timeless. We mean bootcut jeans, trench coats, white T-shirts and quality pieces that you can wear again and again such as our Miranda bag - what's not to love about it. In case you need any more reasons to believe that Miranda Hobbes is the feminist hero that we all deserve, this book will definitely help:
We Should All Be Mirandas: Life Lessons from Sex and the City's Most Underrated Character.

And just because you can't do Miranda without passing by Carrie, Patricia Field would ask for the Mara bag so she could put together this outfit a few years later.

Cute moment of Brad and Jen at The 52nd Annual Emmy Awards. Jennifer rocking the mini Rachel bag, named after her famous sitcom character. The bag sold out immediately.

Unfortunately, our glasses are almost empty so this journey must come to an end. Make sure to subscribe to our newsletter so you won't miss our next voyage. Who knows, maybe we'll end up in the future.
