TAPPING INTO OUR VINTAGE OBSESSION
Today, finding good pieces that feel truly unique to you is nearly impossible. With all the perks of online shopping, where nothing is ever too far out of reach and so the difficulties of standing out from the crowd can often come at play. Not to worry! We’ve got quite a compelling solution to this.
Although, we can’t deny we’re a sucker for something brand new, lately we’ve been turning to our never-dying love for vintage, more and more.
Upcycling or treasure hunting, if you’d like, is our favourite way to break things up a bit.
From finding the perfect 80s piece, to obsessing over digging out just-the-right destressed pair of Levi’s, over the years we’ve complied a pretty good list of our go-to favourites. While, we can’t deny we do get a thrill from going through the racks and racks of textures, colours and designs at our local thrift shop, online vintage shopping is somewhat easier and way more relaxed. Therefore, we’ve compiled a list of online vintage boutiques for your next (much more glamourous) thrift shop experience, with curated pieces often way too tempting to pass onto, literally, at the touch of your fingertips.
The Drobe Melbourne
Hitting our sweet spot for a 90’s and early 2000s aesthetic, this Australian-based Instagram account offers a range of dreamy silk camies and perfectly fitted high-waisted pants. If you’re really fast and lucky, however, you could win the bidding (done through the comments on each post) and get your hands on one of their prized oversized leather jackets; something we are yet to achieve!

Nine.co
Another Instagram-based store with highly trend-driven pieces for the truly bold. You can expect a selection of vivid prints and colours, ranging from cool, flared tie-dye jeans to animal-print, silky slip-on dresses. Just like their founder (@nettatalmi) the pieces are effortless and fun; make a statement without being overwhelming. The Nine.co is another account with a strong celebrity following this time including supermodels Elsa Hosk and Abby Champion. With bidding starting at only $5 AUD you can sometimes get lucky and get a steal, but you have to keep on top of the competition in the comments section under each post for 48 hours after bidding opens. But trust us, it will be worth it!
The Level
With its comb-picked selection of tailored blazer and, the above-mentioned, perfectly worn-in pairs of Levi’s, The Level store has your wardrobe staples covered. With their easy-to-wear neutrals The Level has acquired a cult celebrity and influencer following, including supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who we can picture in any of their oversized shirts and cool leather pants, maybe paired with chic Bottega sandals, a Rachel bag and some dangly gold jewellery. The best bit is that you can shop their sensibly priced contemporary selection not only on Instagram page but also through their website, where you will find detailed information and photographs on each available piece. Super easy, super chic!
SHOP VINTAGE COLLECTION (@svc_____)
A few things every girl and guy, if you ask us, should have in their wardrobe are a good leather jacket and at least one tailored blazer. Yes, sometimes splurging on these is a necessary investment but with accounts like SHOP VINTAGE COLLECTION, sometimes it isn’t. The selection of this account is anything but ordinary; their pieces like a recent zebra-print leather bomber jacket or a perfectly oversized oat leather trench are wearable, yet will have everyone asking, “Where did you get that from?!”. But be quick! Sales are done on a first come, first served basis in the account’s DMs and with nearly 40K followers, competition is fierce.
Girls of Mars ( @gomvintage)
This woman- and LGBTQ-owned and curated account is what feels like your own little treasure chest of silky shirts, tailored blazers and soft knits that you can DM to purchase. While the girls are Lisbon-based, they’ve made it their mission to source their gems internationally from Tokyo, through to Istanbul and all the way to Paris. In light of sustainability and keeping conscious of preserving our planet, we love the extra effort they are making by using eco-friendly packaging and fully compostable tissue paper.
While, the selection of handpicked 90’s/ early 2000’s lace-up camis and effortless charmeuse blouses is shoppable on their Instagram page, this store also has a website featuring their currently available pieces, without the constant worry of missing out on the competition.
Pechuga Vintage
Unlike a lot of shops mentioned in this piece, Pechuga Vintage’s focus fall solely on high-end vintage and contemporary items, often incredibly hard to come by. Although the range, currently including a Jean Paul Gaultier SS96 Soleil Shirt and a Chanel AW2000 Sport Grey Skirt, is loaded with alluring items, the shop’s curator Johny Valencia, has deservingly acquired the reputation as the “King of Corsets”. With what feels like THE SOURCE for vintage Vivienne Westwood corsets, Pechuga Vintage ‘s selection would be the idea of heaven for anyone looking to score such a rare find in amazing condition, nonetheless.
If a celebrity following is a measure of success, this Los Angeles- based dealer wins with regular clients including Bella Hadid, Alexa Demie and pretty much the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan, to name a few! Of course, these gems all come at a premium price that will put a dent in anyone’s savings but then again, chances are you’ll cherish them forever.
Cara Mia Vintage
Frankly, we’re flat out obsessed with this online vintage store, curating designer pieces for when you want to shop sustainably without compromising your style and aesthetic. We especially love the search-by-era tool covering styles from the 40s all the way through the 90s. The site is bursting with one-off designer pieces from some of fashion’s biggest names (past and present) but make sure to also check the Jewells section for statement pieces to top off any outfit.

BONUS : Vestiaire Collective
We cannot go without mentioning everyone’s favourite destination for pre-loved fashion. Although not everything on the site is vintage and you can often menage to find items from last season’s runway, Vestiaire feels like the ultimate platform for conscious, more sustainable shopping. We especially love the easy-to-use app, featuring regular updates on price reductions and to be honest, we find ourselves scrolling through the What’s New section way more often than the probable recommended amount. Keep an eye on this one, we hear exciting things are coming along!
