FASHION AS A FORCE FOR GOOD
Last weekend BY FAR joined Stella magazine and the UK charity Smart Works for a magical day of festive shopping at Somerset House. Pieces from our archives were on display for a special pop-up sale, where 100% of the proceeds went to Smart Works, helping them support more unemployed women in need to get the job and transform their lives.
London’s historic working art centre with one of Europe’s most beautiful courtyards – where VIP shoppers would skate just before they indulge in guilty-free shopping – welcomed over 1000 guests at the 2-day event. The Big Stella x Smart Works Fashion Sale raised more than £125,000 of vital funds for Smart Works, thanks to the kind donations from brands and individuals. BY FAR donated 150 archive pieces to the sale, including signature and coveted styles to wear now and cherish for years to come – from the barely-there Tanya mule to Rachel, Amber and Mini in exclusive colours and textures.
In its fourth year, The Big Stella x Smart Works Fashion Sale has continued to use fashion as a force for good, giving women the confidence they need to reach their full potential. Smart Works provides high quality clothing and coaching to unemployed women with upcoming job interviews, helping them feel confident, look fabulous, succeed at their job interview and move on with their life. In 8 years, they have helped over 20,000 women in 8 centres across the UK, 62% of which got the job they applied for, while 95% left feeling more confident. The charity has been recognized as a social impact charity of the year in 2019 and has previously welcomed Meghan Markle as its patron.
