Sunrise to Sunset: Drinks throughout your day

You know what they say: absence (or abstinence in this case) makes the heart grow fonder. We don’t know about you, but with life slowly getting back to normal we have found ourselves with weekend plans where the happy hour extends from brunch to the late evening; guilt free. If, like us, you’re planning garden parties, picnics and brunches, we’ve got all the essential drinks recipes you might need!

All in measures to serve 2 but feel free to scale them up in batches or drink them both yourself!

 

 

Smoothie Recipes

 

 

MATCHA AND GINGER SMOOTHIE

½  cucumber

1 lime

1/4 avocado

1 Tbsp. fresh chopped & peeled ginger

1 cup baby spinach

1  cups coconut milk

1 Tbsp hemp seeds

1 tsp Matcha Powder

 

Iron rich spinach, anti-inflammatory ginger and protein-packed hemp seeds make this smoothie the kickstart to your day. The cucumber and lime add that extra dose of freshness, while the matcha powder (rich in antioxidants) regulates your blood sugar levels, curbing cravings and keeping you energised. Green smoothie with a power twist that only takes two minutes? We’re easily sold.

Squeeze the lime juice into your blender

Add remaining ingredients. (Add ice if you prefer you smoothie cold)

Blend until you get a smooth consistency, adding more milk or a little water if needed.

BLUEBERRY COCONUT AND CHIA SMOOTHIE

1 cup frozen blueberries

50gr frozen or fresh coconut meat

¼ cup raw cashews

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1 pitted date

1 teaspoon lemon juice

¼ teaspoon cinnamon or cardamom

Pinch of salt

1 cup coconut water

We love this smoothie as both a breakfast and snack option, or even as a post-workout treat with a little bit of protein powder. Its natural sweetness, coming from the blueberries makes us crave chocolate at 4pm a little less. Kind of.
 

Add the coconut water and lemon juice.

Add remaining ingredients. (Including protein, if you want)

Blend until you reach a smooth consistency.

Enjoy!

 

 

MOCHA COLD BREW CASHEW SMOOTHIE

1 medium banana, previously sliced and frozen

1 pitted date

¼ cup raw cashews (soak those for at least 4 hours if your blender isn’t that strong)

1 tablespoon unsweetened natural cocoa powder*

1 tablespoon nut butter of choice (we love almond or cashew)

½ tablespoon maple syrup

1 cups cold brew coffee (can substitute with cold americano)

¼  cup cashew milk

Pinch of salt

Coffee-check. Chocolate – check. Healthy – check. This delicious smoothie and its superfood ingredients speak from themselves.
 

Add nut milk and coffee into your blender.

Add remaining ingredients. (Including ice if you want your smoothie cold)

Blend until you reach a smooth and creamy consistency.

LEAN GREEN SMOOTHIE

1 cup coconut water

½ cucumber

2 apples, peeled and chopped

1 cup spinach

2 romaine lettuce leaves

If you after something that’s more on the veggie-side, this smoothie hits the spot. It’s super easy to make and feels light with just a little hint of sweetness from the apple. The spinach and romaine add fibre, essential for proper digestion, and energize, while the cucumber aids in hydrating the skin. It’s the perfect everyday drink you won’t get tired of, great on its own or as an addition to avocado toast for breakfast.
 

Add all ingredients into your blender. (Including ice if you want your smoothie cold)

Blend until you reach a smooth and creamy consistency. Add more coconut water if needed.

MANGO PINEAPPLE AND TUMERIC SMOOTHIE

½ cup mango

1 cup coconut water

1 tablespoon chia seeds

½ lime

1 cup frozen pineapple (or ½ frozen pineapple, ½ cup frozen papaya)

 A smoothie with a piña colada twist? Yes, please. It’s healthy, yet delicious and gives us all the summer feels. Packed with potassium from the coconut water and omega-3 fatty acids from the chia seeds, this smoothie helps relive anxiety and stress; ultimate mood booster. Pro tip: for an extra kick add some kale in, as well.
 

Squeeze the lime into the blender.

Blend until you reach a smooth consistency. Add more coconut water if needed.

Cocktail Recipes

  

Lately our happy hour has extended from brunch to the late evening; guilt free. With bars currently being out of reach, we've resorted to FaceTime for the company and to these recipes for the goods. 

  

 

ROSE INFUSED GIN

½ cup Simple Syrup (you can make this yourself with one-part sugar/one-part water)

1 tablespoon of rose syrup

1 ½ oz (Roughly 45 ml) Gin

1 ½ tablespoon lemon juice

1 egg white

2 ounces (roughly 55 ml) Champagne

The sweet notes of rose in this cocktail balance perfectly with the champagne and gin while the citrus adds that extra dose of freshness, making this cocktail just right for spring.  It looks gorgeous with the extra froth from the egg white and is the perfect upgrade from your classic G&T. Decorate with rose petals to really get a whiff of escape from the ordinary. Totally worth the extra time and effort, we promise! 

Add your lemon juice, syrup and gin into a cocktail shaker.

Crack an egg, separate the egg white and add it to your lemon and gin mix.

Shake vigorously without ice to emulsify the egg white.

Add ice and shake for a second time until the liquid is cold.

Double strain the cocktail into your glasses.

Slowly pour your champagne on top.

To decorate add fresh or dried rose petals on top

POMEGRANATE MOSCOW MULE

2 oz (roughly 60ml) of Vodka

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice

3 oz (roughly 150 ml) Ginger Beer

2 oz (roughly 120 ml) Pomegranate Juice

1 thin slice of peeled fresh ginger

Pomegranate Seeds

Mint

Lime

There’s nothing better than a light and refreshing cocktail, and this new twist on the classic Moscow Mule recipe is just that. The slightly spicy notes of the ginger mixed with the sweetness of the pomegranate make this otherwise simple cocktail feel exciting. It’s usually served in a copper mug to keep it cold but if you don’t have one, a mason jar or a Collins glass with plenty of ice work just fine.

Fill you mug (or glass) with crushed ice

Add your vodka, the pomegranate juice and your lime juice and top off everything with your ginger beer.

Add your fresh ginger and stir

Garnish with a little mint, a slice of lime and some pomegranate seeds

PICANTE DE LA CASA (SOHO HOUSE TONIC)

4-5 slices of Fresno chilli pepper

20-25 cilantro (coriander) leaves

60ml Reposado Tequila

30ml agave syrup

60ml freshly squeezed lime juice

You’ll spot this spicy, tequila cocktail sipped at happy hour in different Soho Houses across the world. This “House Tonic” was first created by Chris Ojeda at the Soho House in West Hollywood but has since then, been popularised by bars across the globe. Similar to a margarita with added spice and cilantro aroma, this cocktail might just become your next go-to drink.
 

Slightly press your chilli to the bottom of your shaker to release its flavour (be careful not to overdo this as your cocktails might turn out too spicy)

Add the cilantro and the remaining ingredients and shake with ice

Strain into a Rocks Glass filled with ice

Garnish with the very top part of the pepper

BLOOD ORANGE TEQUILA APEROL

4 oz (roughly 120 ml) tequila blanco

2 oz (roughly 60ml) Aperol

3 oz (roughly 90ml) freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

Club soda

Grapefruit for garnish

A month into spring, we’re already craving summer: the long nights at the beach, the warm sun on our skin, walking barefoot on the grass, you name it, we crave it. Although there’s a little more time till all of that, there’s one thing, however, that’s giving us a taste of what’s to come: Aperol. We’ve been making this around the clock lately and are loving this slightly stronger tequila version with a little freshness from the fresh grapefruit. Hits the spot!
 

Add ice in your glasses to cool them before you make your drinks

Add in the tequila and grapefruit juice (and some sliced grapefruit if you’d like), followed by the Aperol

Top off each drink with the club soda

Garnish with a slice of grapefruit

BERRY CUCUMBER COCKTAIL

4 oz (roughly 120 ml) vodka (or gin)

4 oz (roughly 120 ml) Club soda

Sliced strawberries

Sliced cucumber

Mint

This next one is probably the easiest cocktail to date. That doesn’t mean however, that it’s any less delicious than the rest and the time you save making it will just give you more to drink it. The strawberry-cucumber combination looks and tastes refreshing, while the lack of sweetener leaves it clean and crisp. Added bonus: this cocktail work great with gin as well you can substitute the strawberries for any berry of choice!
 

Add ice to your glasses to cool them before pouring in the rest

Start with your cucumber, mint and strawberries and give them a slight crush to get all their flavour

Pour the vodka and top off with your club soda

PORNSTAR MARTINI

2 tablespoons passion fruit liqueur (such as Passoa)

2 tablespoons passion fruit purée (fresh or store-bought like Monin)

4 tablespoons vanilla or passion fruit syrup

100ml vodka

2 tablespoons lime juice

Champagne

Fresh halved passion fruit to garnish

 Straight from the early 2000s, this fresh and sweet cocktail continues to be a hit not only in our book but across bars everywhere. We’ve heard a few myths and tales about how it got its provocative name but in truth, we have no idea. Nevertheless, we love its exotic taste and the champagne shot, that doubles as an extra drink and a palette cleanser you’re supposed to down halfway through your cocktail (to play down the sweetness).
 

Fill your martini glasses with ice to cool them before

Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously

Take out the ice from your chilled glasses and slowly strain the cocktail

Decorate with a halved passion fruit and serve with a shot of champagne on the side
